Canoeing in Japan doesn’t get much better than on Nagano’s numerous lakes and rivers. We offer flat-water tours on Aokiko – Lake Aoki – a deep and clear lake fed by snow-melt, rain, and mineral springs from below.

Lake Aoki near Hakuba is one of Japan’s purest lakes, fed by snow-melt, rain and natural spring-water bubbling from below. In the Spring Cherry Blossoms are abundant, in the Summer the lake is alive with greenery, birds and fish and is beautiful for swimming, and fireflies are plentiful in the evenings. In Autumn the color of the leaves is one of Japan’s treasures.

Paddle a 2 (or 3 person if you have a child in the center) Canadian Canoe around this beautiful lake…take it slow and enjoy the views or focus on more advanced paddling techniques to prepare for guiding one of these dynamic canoes on a downriver canoe tour in Nagano.

Join one of Evergreen’s trained guides for a tour around Lake Aoki. After a safety briefing, your guide will instruct you in proper paddling technique and how to sit in and move around in the canoe. As you explore the Lake, your guide will point out wildlife and points of interest. Stop for a drink, a snack, an explore and a swim if the weather allows, before making your way back to Aokiko Campsite.
